Satya deMasson is a realist artist inspired to work in the medium of oil paint and charcoal, finding his own unique way of exploring the beauty of the human form.

Satya deMasson completed his art studies at the James Street Art College, Perth, in 1971. From 1974 he worked as a graphic designer for the Dept. of Defence in Canberra. From early 1990 deMasson worked in graphic design and teaching on the SunshineCoast. Working as head designer for six hat systems developing an interactive CD for Dr Edw. ard DeBono. In 1994 he was awarded First Prize for Drawing at the Maleny Arts Awards. He ran his own graphic design business between 1994 to 2009.

With painting trips to France during 2006-2009, Satya studied oil painting at the Acros de la Frontera Academy in Spain, under the direction of the internationally recognised American realist artist Daniel E. Greene.

His choices of how and what he paints are made from question. Asking which of his many ideas wants to be painted next and in turn asking the painting what it requires from him to bring it to life. This technique of constantly asking questions as he goes allows the painting to truly emerge from the canvas.

deMasson’s current work captures the past into the present with his paintings and drawings of the 1920’s postcards. Exploring and being challenged by bringing new life and sensuality to these forgotten images and muses.

His coloured pencil, charcoal and oil painting work has been purchased by a number of private collectors in Australia and the USA.

The Dying Swan
