Collection: She's Just not One Thing, She's Everything
A Mother's Day Art Exhibition...
Artist Statement
My body of work is deeply inspired by florals, which I thoroughly enjoy painting. For me, flowers symbolise many of the attributes of women, and they make me happy. I find t fascinating that women have had such a strong historical connection with flowers. In the 1800's, women studied botany as a means of education and healing- a field that was later claimed by patriarchy and reduced to mere decoration in women's hands. Women have often been confined to narrow roles, stereotyped as caregivers, and underestimated in their competence. As I share this exhibition with my daughter Lais, I am committed to empowering her to embrace her full potential. I encourage her to be a force - mighty, capable of being both life giving and powerful, and I want her to know that she is everything.
