Kuran Warun meaning ‘Hissing Swan’ is celebrated as one of Australia’s top indigenous artists.
Warun’s ancestry, Guntijamara Tribe, a descendant of Truganini, the Tasmanian Indigenous Queen, held his first exhibition aged 8 alongside his Mother.
Warun’s style developed inspired by elements such as the dust from the earth, rivers and stones, the sea and its creatures. Mentored by his mother, his paintings tell stories of his childhood and his own children. With an appreciation for his heritage, he feels joy in teaching his own children.
Living in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, Warun is highly sought after internationally and his work features in collections owned by people including Oprah and the Prince of Saudi Arabia. He also performs didgeridoo and dancing for many international guests and places around the world.
