Collection: Laura Vecmane

Laura Vecmane is a visual artist currently living and working in Maleny, Sunshine Coast. She has been expressing herself through several classical and experimental creative media - painting, mixed media, mosaic artistry, ephemeral art, and sculpture since 2002.

Born in Latvia, a culturally rich country, the early years of her artistic career were spent in Europe, studying art in Latvia, Denmark, and Spain. The multicultural influences, impressions of nature, radiant light, vivid colors, scenes of daily life, and most recently Australian fauna and flora, are among many subjects of her creative exploration.

Laura approaches her art practice with great integrity, often allowing her creative visions to get influenced by her intuition. She believes that the path of art is a path to a heart, filled with self-discovery and opportunities to heal and find new ways of sharing the voice.

Laura wishes to inspire others to observe and notice the intricate wonders of the world around, and to be more playful and present. Her “Ephemeral Playtime” series - compositions of various organic matter captured in photography reveal the power of transformation. Beauty can be found anywhere and in anything. The natural world is very delicate, yet also so resilient. Laura believes human beings are an extension of their environment. It is essential to take time to connect and appreciate.
